May 3    Howell's Sunday Farmers' Market

The 2015 season of the Howell Sunday Farmers’ Market gets under way Sunday, May 3, and runs every Sunday through Oct. 25, featuring locally grown produce, handmade goodies from 50 vendors and live entertainment.

Howell's Sunday Farmers' Market is celebrating its 21st year.

Visitors and residents enjoy the finest in locally grown produce, bedding plants, flowers, homemade goods and crafts, all set against the backdrop of the Livingston County Courthouse and historic downtown Howell. Weekly entertainment and the energetic downtown ambience have helped create a “mini-festival” atmosphere at the market.

    Fresh produce
    Garlic/herbs
    Honey and maple syrup
    Perennials and annuals
    Potted trees and shrubs
    Farm fresh eggs
    Fresh, pasture-raised poultry
    Heirloom plants
    USDA organic grass-fed beef & pork
    Certified organic raw cheese
    Fresh baked breads

May 6    MIOSHA Seminar - Creating a Positive Safety Culture
Creating a Positive Safety Culture

Full day course developed to teach participants: this course will provide the knowledge and tools for participants to gain an understanding of the factors that affect culture and how it impacts safety performance. Management Leadership/Commitment and Employee Involvement are the most critical components of having an effective Safety and Health Management System (SHMS).  This course will use data, examples, case studies, and activities to illustrate best practices and assist participants in improving their company's safety culture.

Agenda
 
  • Define organizational culture and its impact on performance.
  • Explain the impact of safety systems and other corporate systems on safety culture.
  • Evaluate the safety culture within your organization.

Requirements to attend:
Safety & Health Management Systems, Level II, MTI Certification

This course has been approved for both residential builders pre-licensure and continuing safety training requirements.

May 12    Good Morning Livingston
County foodies sharing secrets of their success at next Good Morning Livingston

Two of Livingston County’s most-famous and successful food entrepreneurs — Adam Merkel of Diamond’s Steak and Seafood in downtown Howell, and Renee Chodkowski of Great Foodini fame — will be on hand to talk about their businesses at the May 12 Good Morning Livingston program, set for 7:30 a.m. at The Johnson Center at Cleary University, 3750 Cleary Drive in Howell.

Both Merkel and Chodkowski have achieved their success by combining their passion for food with hard work and top-notch social media and marketing efforts.

The event begins at 7:30 a.m. at The Johnson Center at Cleary University, 3750 Cleary Drive in Howell.

Tickets are $20 for members in advance and $25 at the door. Non-members/guests are $30.
