As a long time resident of Livingston County & community volunteer, I founded Prelude Home, a local 501c3 non-profit. God called be to help these women facing the same issues I had. This is the largest group growing globally in homelessness. Due to widowed, divorce, loss of job, many have moved in to care for their parents, now that home has to be sold to settle the estate. We are the Hidden Homeless because we couch surf, sleep in cars or battle the outside elements to survive, embarrassed and ashamed. Resources are limited and we find ourselves at the bottom of the list. Because we don't have minor children, not abused, nor coming out of jail/rehab. By the grace of God and the help of others. I was able to get affordable housing in the community I love. Prelude Home will be the Beginning of these women's new lives. I am proof that you can be a survivor, at age 60 I just bought my first home all on my own.
