Armor Protective Packaging® Named One of Michigan’s Best Places to Work for the Eighth Time
(Howell, MI) – August 26, 2025 – The energy is high for the team at Armor Protective Packaging® as ARMOR is celebrating a major milestone, being named to Crain’s Detroit Business Best Places to Work in Michigan list for the eighth time! This latest recognition reinforces ARMOR’s long-standing commitment to creating a workplace where employees feel valued, supported, and engaged.

This year, ARMOR earned the #22 overall ranking and was recognized as the #1 manufacturer on the list, underscoring its continued commitment to putting people and relationships first, which is one of ARMOR’s core values! The Crain’s award, which highlights companies that stand out in employee satisfaction and workplace environment, is based on a combination of detailed employer questionnaires and anonymous employee surveys. These surveys evaluate everything from benefits and policies to leadership and day-to-day work experience.

Want to know what makes ARMOR so awesome? Just ask the people who make it that way. During the selection process, the team anonymously shared stories and feedback on what makes ARMOR’s culture unique. "Winning this award (again!) validates that we are living our core values, growing together, and being a place where people enjoy showing up to work each day. I’m proud to see words like fun, family, and caring show up so often in the comments section of the survey,” said Ryan Gingery, President of Armor Protective Packaging. “This team works hard, puts others first, and goes the extra mile. I’m proud to be part of it and proud to see ARMOR ranked the top manufacturer on Crain’s 2025 Best Places to Work list." This employee input represents 75% of the final ranking. The list of employee benefits includes things that you might expect such as flexible hours, a casual dress code, generous company contributions to employee 401(k)s, and company outings. But ARMOR goes a step beyond with unique things such as transparency of the company’s financial health, a healthy profit-sharing program, an extended holiday shutdown with paid time off and a monthly company luncheon that ends with a “Celebrate Your Date” recognition of employees on the anniversary of their hire date.

Additional examples that spotlight what makes ARMOR unique include:
  • A Halloween party with a food truck, pumpkin carving, desk decorating, and trick-or-treating through the building. With people attending from over 15 different countries!
  • A sunset cruise-themed Christmas party, featuring fun tropical decor, exciting raffle giveaways, and live music from a band that included several of ARMOR’s talented team members.
  • An event unique to ARMOR-the annual Ground Hog’s Day celebration consisting of lunch, water-bottle whack-a-mole, and a building wide groundhog “hunt”.
  • A day out of office for the whole team on a sunny summer Friday for ARMOR boat day! Three pontoon boats were rented and sailed the Pinckney chain of lakes to Zukey Lake Tavern for lunch before setting sail back to the sandbar.

Also contributing to ARMOR’s award-winning company culture is its commitment to community and support of volunteerism. All ARMOR employees are given 24 hours a year of paid release time to volunteer within the community. In 2015, ARMOR established the employee-led ARMOR VALOR Committee – VALOR stands for Volunteers of ARMOR – and they created the outline and structure for ARMOR’s volunteer program. Also contributing to ARMOR’s award-winning company culture is its commitment to community and support of volunteerism. ARMOR’s employee led VALOR program allows ARMOR employees 24 hours a year of paid time-off to volunteer within the non-profits and within their community.
